Intent

Understand privacy money as infrastructure. This is not a shopping list and not personalized advice.

1. Write a one-page threat model

Who are you protecting against — chain observers, KYC correlators, network snoops, device malware? Rank them. Revisit quarterly. Full framing: privacy pillar.

2. Learn the three privacy surfaces

  • Sender — decoy / ring-style spends
  • Receiver — one-time / stealth destinations
  • Amount — confidential amounts

If a tool only “mixes” after the fact on a transparent chain, it is a different animal than protocol-default privacy.

3. Wallet hygiene

  • Download only from primary project sources; verify signatures when offered.
  • Treat seeds and view keys like wallet seeds elsewhere — never type them into websites.
  • Practice restore with dust before meaningful funds.
  • See wallets and verify frontends.

4. Edges still leak

Exchanges, screenshots, timing, shipping addresses, and chat logs can undo ledger privacy. Protocol design is not a complete life system.
