Release radar: week of 12 Oct 2026

Monday watchlist for eight sovereign-tech projects, week ending 12 Oct 2026: which upstreams tagged a release, and which of those are security releases. Technology status only.

2026-10-12 · release-radar, bitcoin-core, lightning, lnd, ldk, ollama, nostr, autonomi, monero, sovereign-tech

Dark CryptoDecentral hex mesh with eight quiet teal and bronze status beacons on a faint radar sweep — no text, charts, or UI.

Same eight projects every Monday. Did the software you run ship, and is it a security release? Mechanism only; no rankings.

Window: tags and releases published roughly 5–12 Oct 2026 (week ending Monday 12 Oct). Verified on upstream GitHub release and tag pages (UTC dates).

  1. Bitcoin Core: v32.0rc4 (12 Oct 2026): fourth release candidate for 32.0, backporting fixes that make a node finish all its initial private-broadcast connections, cap a socket wait timeout and correct an RPC schema pattern; still a test build, not a final release.
  2. Core Lightning: v26.06.9 (7 Oct 2026): security point release fixing reported vulnerabilities in channel reestablishment, splicing, HTLC handling during shutdown, onion handling and gossip range queries, and narrowing the 26.06.8 gossip CPU throttle so it counts only gossip queries.
  3. LND: no release this week.
  4. LDK (rust-lightning): no release this week (primary development now lives at git.rust-bitcoin.org, mirrored to GitHub; latest tags are from 2 Oct).
  5. Ollama: v0.40.3 (11 Oct 2026; after v0.40.1 on 7 Oct and v0.40.2 on 8 Oct): models from older versions are converted in the background for the llama.cpp runner while the original copy is kept as a downgrade backup, and v0.40.3 pauses that background upgrade so it doesn't slow embedding and other requests.
  6. nostr-protocol/nips: no tagged release this week; NIPs are merged continuously (repository).
  7. Autonomi: Autonomi Node v0.22.0 (8 Oct 2026): nodes now repair chunks that audits find corrupted, harden pointer-record replication against floods and partial views, and read freshly written chunks back through the verified store before confirming them; binaries remain ML-DSA-65 signed.
  8. Monero: no new tag this week. The GitHub release page for v0.18.5.3, tagged 2 Oct and listed last week, went up on 6 Oct with notes covering P2P stall fixes, restricted-RPC privacy filtering and multisig wallet validation.

Lines with no release stay in the list on purpose, so you can compare one week's list with the next. Feature essays remain Wed/Fri; the Monday OSS AI special is separate.
