Sovereign starter kit

A calm, ordered path into self-custody, privacy awareness, Nostr, and decentralized tooling — without hype or buy signals.

Who this is for

You want fewer custodians between you and your digital life. You are willing to move slowly, write things down, and ignore urgency marketing. You are not looking for leveraged tips or “alpha.”

Principles before products

  1. Keys are the account. Whether Bitcoin, Monero-class assets, or Nostr, whoever holds the secret controls the capability.
  2. Blast radius beats bravado. Start with tiny amounts and disposable identities until recovery drills are boring.
  3. Verify, then trust lightly. Bookmarks over ads. Checksums over vibes.
  4. Education ≠ advice. This kit is educational. Not financial advice. Not an FSP/CASP. DYOR.

Week-one path (suggested)

1. Threat model on one page

Write who you worry about (theft, phishing, curious ISP, exchange KYC graph) and what you are protecting (savings, speech, both). Revisit quarterly.

2. Wallet hygiene basics

  • Choose a reputable hardware or software wallet path appropriate to your amount at risk. See the hardware wallet guide and the wallets pillar.
  • Generate a seed offline; store backups offline; test restore.
  • Never type a seed into a website.

3. Separate “play” from “savings”

Use a small hot wallet for experiments. Keep long-term keys colder. Ratios are yours to choose — we will not prescribe them.

4. Learn privacy as a property

Read the privacy pillar for Monero-class threat models. Do not confuse a mixer meme with protocol-level privacy. We make no price calls.

5. Get a Nostr identity

Generate an nsec offline if possible; back it up like a seed. Add a few public relays. Follow people who publish primary sources, not only screenshots.

6. Optional: Lightning receive

If you want to accept tips or zaps, learn receive-only Lightning with a wallet you control. CryptoDecentral’s tip address is receive-only when published — Bitcoin pillar.

7. Look past money

Skim Autonomi and decentralized AI so your sovereignty story includes data and inference, not only balances.

Checklist

  • Threat model written
  • Seed backup tested
  • Phishing bookmark discipline
  • Nostr key backed up
  • Know where official docs live for tools you use
  • Read the disclaimer

What success looks like

You can lose a laptop and still recover. You can ignore a fake support agent. You can explain — in your own words — why CryptoDecentral will never ask to hold your coins.
