How to use this path

Read the modules in order. Each step links into a live field note — finish that note, then come back (or follow the “next” link on the note) for the following module. One sitting of careful reading is enough to leave with a coherent mental model; you do not need the chronological notes feed.

Module 1 — Verify before trust

Outcome: Software and address hygiene before keys feel “real.”

Self-custody without verification is a slogan. Learn what you must be able to check — binaries, destinations, assumptions — before meaningful value moves.

Module 2 — Sign without hot keys

Outcome: A PSBT / air-gap mental model — online builds, offline signs.

Keep private material offline while the networked machine watches and builds. BIP 174 roles matter more than brand logos.

Module 3 — Receive without a till

Outcome: Tips are not a merchant stack; Lightning receive-only is enough for optional support.

A payable request and inbound capacity are not SKU catalogues, POS rails, or yield products. Keep the problem small.

Module 4 — Default-private money

Outcome: Why transparent ledgers leak; what Monero-class design changes by default.

Transparency lets anyone verify rules and scrape a permanent payment graph. Protocol-default privacy is a different animal than after-the-fact mixing memes.

Module 5 — Identity without platforms

Outcome: Publish/read via relay lists; understand stale lists and dark outboxes.

Nostr identity is a keypair plus how clients discover where you write and read. NIP-65 is discovery metadata — not consensus — and age or downtime can make it lie.

Module 6 — Store without landlords

Outcome: Client-side encryption + immutable content-addressed chunks.

Decentralized storage literacy starts with self-encryption and the Data Map, then the public-address vs private-DataMap retrieval stories over immutable chunks.

Module 7 — Think without phone-home

Outcome: Local inference and data residency; verify weights and packaging.

Sovereignty for AI means where tokens run and where embeddings and indexes live — plus the habit of checking what you load.

You finished the core path

You can lose a laptop and still reason about recovery. You can ignore a fake support agent. You can explain — in your own words — why CryptoDecentral will never ask to hold your coins, run your swaps, or tell you what to buy.
